This past weekend I mentioned here that Grammy and Poppy, Adam's parents, took our big boys and went camping. To say they were excited is quite the understatement! Peyton asked all week long, "are we going camping today?"
Thursday was his last day of school so that evening, after we had dinner together, Adam took the boys to spend the night with his parents so that they could get a jump on things the next morning. Bill said they arrived at Blanchard Springs by about 10:00 Friday morning but he was beginning to sweat a little as they realized almost all the camp sites were already taken. But being gracious as the Lord always is, there happened to be one last site and it was meant for them. Though they couldn't tell at first if the site was available or not so Bill asked the man, "are you packing up or unpacking" to which the man replied, "unpacking, will be out of here in a little bit." What? If you're not sure what that answer meant neither were they, Bill said he just pulled over to the side and waited about 20 or so minutes cause he wasn't about to pass up the last site!
Blanchard Springs Caverns are about 2 hours from Little Rock and is nestled in the Ozark National Forest. There is not only beautiful sites to see in the forest itself, with the natural springs, water falls and the surrounding forest, but there's a whole under ground experience of adventures to take in as well. I've never actually been there but the pictures I've seen are pretty amazing, its definitely a place we'll try and visit once the littles are bigger!
Peyton and Lawson had a fantastic time with Poppy and Grammy, since I wasn't there and don't know exactly what's going on in each picture, I'll let them speak for themselves!
Here's the last camp site that was available...
Grammy with some of her boys...
The camp site was perfect, it was close to the bathrooms as well as this refreshing little water hole...
Poppy and the boys...
Cookin' and Chillin'...
They went down into the caverns...
It wouldn't be a camping trip (or any day really) if there wasn't a shot of this going on...
Sticks and stones, caverns and swimming holes, bike riding and playing on the trailer...these are things that boys love to do...Peyton and Lawson had such a great time, I know they made a life long memory!! Thanks Poppy and Grammy for going to all the effort and for taking them on such a fun get away weekend!
