Christmas actually arrived early for us this year.
Since we hosted Thanksgiving (and people would be here over the weekend following Thanksgiving) we decided to put it up a week before everyone arrived since we'll only be in Birmingham two weeks before we're headed for snow skiing in Colorado and then Christmas in Little Rock. And Christmas decor is so much fun to have out so we wanted to get as much time with the twinkly lights and Christmas smells as possible. But I thought I'd wait til at least Dec 1st to post it! I do have to say it weirded me out to have both Thanksgiving arrangements on the tables while the rest of the house was festive with Christmas!
This is part of the horrible mess that I found myself in a couple weeks back...seemed like the whole house was out of whack, but the final result turned out quite nice I think.
Here's our tree...I love the reds and golds with the pops of lime green. The pheasant feathers on top are a fun non-traditional approach to a tree topper and I love the height that it adds. I also put some gold glittered curly willow to add a little interest and whimsy to my tree.
My three lighted Christmas trees on either side of our tv cabinet are really fun and add a nice glow of soft light to the room which creates a warm atmosphere, perfect for movie watching and hot chocolate sipping!
And I thought the mantle turned out nicely, echoing the colors throughout the rest of the house.
It's so hard to believe its December 1st! The year has flown by incredibly fast, so I'm hoping that in December, with these last weeks of 2011, I can really take in and soak up all that the season means...not just the nostalgia of Christmas lights, cinnamon scented potpourri, the fun Christmas music and the beauty of our tree...I'm desiring to truly CELEBRATE the birth of my Savior, Jesus Christ and drink in the fact that He came to Earth to give me life...real, meaningful, eternal life. Thank you Lord, that "unto us a child was born, unto us a Son was given...and His name shall be Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace!" He truly is my Prince of Peace, and I'm so thankful He's allowed me to enter into a permanent and lasting relationship with Him!
