Weekend In Review: Bowling, Calves & Daffodils

This weekend has been pretty fun. We've gotten to do a lot of things with family and friends, making new memories and spending time together.

Friday we got the chance to do lunch with Adam's brother, John and his girlfriend, Sidney. We enjoyed our burgers at 5 Guys Burger and Fries then headed over to the bowling alley. (We had a rainbow of balls to choose from from 5-14 lbs.)

It's always a bit chaotic with our little posse but here's a few of the highlights:
Emerson preferred to sit alone at this table, sipping on his Sprite, then to bowl.
IMG_0411

Lawson kept rolling balls down the lane and not quite rolling them hard enough so they'd get stuck slowly rolling toward the pins and a couple of times the ball actually just stopped all together, to which his solution was to just roll another one down the lane….really son?!! NO! Here he's doing a little happy dance.

Ava Jane sat cool, calm and collected for 1.5 hours in her umbrella stroller then became stir crazy after that, throwing my phone, her sippy cup and anything else we gave her to the ground. It was a beautiful sight on lanes 3 and 4!

Peyton, who happened to get several Strikes (way to go Buddy), also kept knocking the bumpers pretty good and popped the first portion of it totally off!

There's a line you're not supposed to cross with your toes and if you do, it will steadily beep at you…needless to say, we got used to hearing that noise!

Overall, I think the kids had fun and it was nice to get out of the house on that rainy day. We enjoyed the conversation with John and Sidney even with the above mentioned craziness! Thanks for coming out with us! And I didn't play too shabby the second time around.

On Saturday we had the opportunity to go out to the King's property to see their newest little calf who is only 4 days old. The boys were in heaven out on their farm. It was a beautiful day and such a pretty piece of land that they live on.

The boys loved playing king on the hill. What little boy doesn't love a good dirt pile?IMG_5255

We had a picnic with my parents on our way to Wye Mountain. It was a beautiful day but kinda chilly when the wind blew.

Wye Mountain was beautiful this year as it was last year.

The kids had fun running like crazy through the fields of flowers and of course wrestling.

The boys enjoyed hiding in the brush too…they were pretending to be camouflaged.

This was the best we could get with me and the kiddos…no one's looking…big shocker?!!

Lake Trip with Friends

Spring Break has been fun and low key which has been really nice. Adam took Wednesday through Friday off so late Tuesday we headed down to Lake Ouachita, where some friends had asked us to come and enjoy a lake house with them. The kids had fun exploring in the woods, riding the 4-wheeler, splashing in the hot tub fishing and riding around in the boat and of course they loved eating smores! We really did have a good time just chilling out and visiting.

Anytime a 4-Wheeler is involved they have a great time!

Ava Jane and I took several walks and enjoyed the beauty we got to see. I've been trying to describe and teller her everything I'm doing or seeing since she still isn't talking very much, so our walk was a bit educational too.

While we were walking Stephanie and the men took Silas, Emerson, Lawson, Peyton and Hudson out on the boat to go fishing. The littlest boys went first and only rode around for a bit then came back for naps, but they had a big time while it lasted!

The hot tub was a huge hit too.

While the kiddos swam around in the tub I finally got to look through the last two issues of Southern Living which I've not had time to even open up. And while the littlest ones took naps I sat and visited with Stephanie which was a real treat too.

Here's all our peeps climbing on the boat trailer; I even got Tucker Max in the photo op.

The big girls went exploring in the woods and took my favorite snack along with them. Who needs a bowl of popcorn when they can have a gallon pitcher? They're girls after my own heart--I love me some popcorn!
IMG_5212

Though there were some crazy moments with the kids (but there always are) we had a lot of fun with the Caldwell's. Adam and I are grateful for their friendship and were glad to have the opportunity to do life together for a few days.

And it didn't take long before Ava Jane was completely out and the boys were requesting a movie for the ride home.

Cardiac Survivors Reception

Last night Adam and I had the opportunity to attend the kick-off for the Heart Associations Heart Walk fundraiser that is coming up on April 26th. The night was a time of remembering and celebrating the innovative procedures and research that have taken place to help combat the #1 killer of Americans, heart disease and other heart related illnesses.

The event was held at the Governor's Mansion, which I'd never been to before, it was beautiful!

I joked with a couple of people that the huge chandelier that hangs in the Governor's "party room" would gracefully swag to the floor in our home…it was HUGE! The Governor pointed out that several of the crystals that hang from it are red and actually belonged to one of the prince's of Dubai and was a gift…pretty interesting stuff! I did get to meet Gov. Beebe but didn't get a photo op with him, boo!

We have enjoyed getting involved with the American Heart Association (AHA) since it naturally goes along with Adam's job but it's also become very personal to us since Ava Jane's Congenital Heart Defect was discovered. Adam had the opportunity to celebrate with the other survivors as he too shared a little bit of Ava Jane's story.

Adam and I are excited to participate again this year in the Heart Walk (Here's last years walk). It's an easy 3 mile walk down by the river. We'd love to have you join us as we help to support heart health awareness as well as research and prevention.

The Heart Walk will be
Saturday, April 26th
In North Little Rock
At the Burns Park Soccer Fields #13 and 14
The opening ceremony will be at 9:00 am then the walk begins at 9:30.

We'd love for you to join us! If you can't come walk with us that day, would you still consider making a donation in Ava Jane's honor to the American Heart Association?

For those who would like to come and walk with us we are planning to have team t-shirts that look like this.
image001

You don't have to have a t-shirt to walk with us, but if you are interested would you please leave a message below or email me (at courtneyhead81@gmail.com) with the size(s) that you'd like and tell me how many? I need to place the order by March 31st, so if you could let me know before then that'd be great. We'll have Adult sizes M - 3XL and kids sizes M and L. The t-shirts will be $12.85 each. For every $50.00 donation to the AHA, Adam and I will give you a free t-shirt in whatever size you'd like. On the website, it gives the option to give anonymously but please put your name in there so that I know who to give t-shirts to.

If you're interested in helping this cause, I'd love for you to visit our web page
We already hit our initial goal of $500 and several have donated in the last few days. Would you help us double or triple that amount? Every little bit that you donate counts! We'd love to have you help partner with us in fighting and combating these diseases and illnesses. To quote Dr. Murphy, "we are winning this fight" but we must continue to research to find cures and innovative solutions to the epidemic that is all around us. Almost all of us can say we've been impacted by someone who has had a heart related illness, disease or defect. We have 32 days until the walk, will you help us in this fight?
